Another year. As time continues to slip by us, some things never change. Politicians still pointing fingers, gas prices still going up, we are getting older every day- and leather is still as popular for protective clothing as it was the first time someone strapped a cow hide around his feet to protect himself from the cold and rocks. Leather is as tough as it is comfortable- and as popular as it is beautiful. Boots, purses, saddles, chaps, gloves…the list goes on. Leather- gotta love it.
Hard to believe it is here again already. Where does the time go? Well, one thing is for certain, the same thing will happen next year!
We want to take a moment and thank all of our wonderful customers for another great year. Although it went fast, it was a fun ride, and we had a great time.
We also want to recognize that it was not such a great year for many. Here in California, it was a devastating year for wildfires. So many lost everything- including the lives of their loved ones. God be with you.
Our hearts also go out to the men and women that put it all on the line daily to protect us- servicemen, police and fire- a heartfelt Thank you!, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
With everything else that is going on, we may have forgotten to mention that we “do” saddles. That is to say that we repair, rebuild, and build new saddles. If you have a saddle that needs some TLC, bring it by, we would be happy to get it into shape for you. If you find some old saddles in your barn that you have no need for- bring them buy and we will make you an offer.
We remain your local all service leather shop.
2017 has been our best year yet, and we want to be sure and recognize the reason for that…you! You have been relentless in recognizing the quality of our products, and placing us at the top of a competitive market place. We promise that our products will continue to meet your high expectations. We are consumers too, and we know how important quality and value are to you, and we will never compromise on our devotion to both.
The 2017 rodeo season is in full swing! With the Clovis Chute-out already behind us, we are looking forward to some other great rodeos in the central valley, and around the state. Of course the big local kick-off event to our favorite- and one of the oldest rodeos in the state- is Clovis Big Hat Days, April 1, & 2. This event is a huge local vender fair, taking place in downtown Clovis, and stretching several blocks. Venders will be offering goods of every imaginable description- from hand made crafts to fresh cooked food, and everything in between. We will be there as well offering our fine hand made leather products for your inspection and purchase. Come by and say hi!
Hard to believe that it is that time of the year already- where on earth did 2016 go? With all the “new” labor and time saving devices at our disposal these days one might think that we would have time to burn at the end of the day- but don’t we often find that the opposite is usually true? We seem to take on more, and too often- too much. At the end of the day we are tired, and stressed, lamenting over things we didn’t get to, or wishing the days were longer. It is so easy for us to loose sight of the important things life offers us, family, friends, health, and horses! (Of course the last one is tongue-in-cheek, but we do love our animals).
Sidewinder Chaps and Leather Works would like to thank every one of our wonderful customers for our best year every! We loved meeting new people, and sharing memories with old friends. The best part of this business is without a doubt, the interactions we have with you. We are always learning, and never get tired of it.
From our family to yours- Merry Christmas, happy New Year, thank you, and God Bless America!
We have talked bout this before, and now we have the photographic evidence! The Mountain Rodeo Association Chaps are complete. We are so happy to be able to support this association. Rodeo teaches such great lessons; team work, responsibility, hard work, sportsmanship, and reward. The young people today have so many bad options; Rodeo offers a good clean alternative.Good job MRA, carry on!
As we grow our company, we extend our hand to support our youth. We believe that rodeo is one great sport, and a clean, healthy atmosphere for todays youth. To that end, we grasp every opportunity to get involved and encourage tomorrows leaders to carry on this great lifestyle. You will not find anyone in this sport disrespecting the great flag of these united states, or using rodeo as a stage to embarrass this countries great military. This wholesome sport represents everything that is great about this country; hard work, fair play, equal opportunity, and respect for others. At Sidewinder Chaps and Leather Works, we will always support these ideals, and support those that join us. We are proud that the Mountain Rodeo Association, in Squaw Valley, California has asked us to show our support to the sport- and their group- by building perpetual chaps for their royalty- Queen, Princess, Little Miss, and Tiny Princess- and equally proud to donate our time to do so. Join us in supporting your local Rodeo, and tomorrows leaders!
From time to time we consider adding new product lines to our inventory. This is not to say that we do not build new products at any time as a custom ordered product- it simply implies that we do not normally have a “line” of this product on the shelves at any given time. This is for a couple of reasons; one, we build every product by hand in our own shop which tends to limit our production capacity somewhat; two, we do not wish to compete directly with feed stores, or tack houses that sell volumes of some products imported for less that we can buy the leather. Designs are in the works, and I promise you will be pleased! Keep checking back…coming soon!
So, with the rodeo season here in central California valley winding down, we are looking around, and looking back to see how you did. You did great! We provide dozens of pairs of chinks and chaps to you every year, and most of you wear them to pursue your everyday jobs, or weekend hobbies; but a few of you wear them to rodeos, or parades. We are proud to say that this rodeo season we have been associated with several winning Mutton Buster’s, one champion Mutton Buster (Best Dressed), one winning parade princess, and one rodeo queen. What a great year, and we are not even half way!
