Many different names are used to identify this basic piece of tack. Breast Collar, Roping Breast Collar, Tripping Collar, or Pulling Collar- among others. Technically, there is very little difference in the basic purpose of the device regardless of its name or design; it is designed to prohibit the saddle from sliding aft on the animal when a load is applied to the saddle. When roping or pulling, that load is usually applied via a rope from the load and terminating around the saddle horn. The load can also be as simple as the rider himself, especially during trail riding situations when the horse and rider can be exposed to steep conditions. Different riders have different preferences, and different designs will fit different animals better. Whatever your particular needs, we suggest that you consider one of our fine hand made articles.
